Car Rental at the Airport

Pisa

From the arrivals terminal, you have two options: the shuttle bus (free; white gazebo to the right of the main entrance) or a walk along the red line (about 400–500 meters, 5–7 min.). Exit the airport, turn right, and follow the road down to the roundabout. Turn right and walk to the end of the road; most of the major rental car companies will be on your left. Once you’re on your way, you won’t have any trouble finding your way. You’ll run into or walk alongside many others on the same mission. There are also painted signs on the sidewalk, but they’re usually a bit worn and don’t start until a short distance from the airport.

Florence

The car rental area is located on Via Palagio degli Spini, about 500 meters from the terminal. Take the shuttle bus—it’s the easiest option. The shuttle bus stops a little to the right of the airport’s main entrance, about 50 meters away. The bus runs on “Italian time” and returns within 5–20 minutes.
